The Round the Island Race is one the most memorable and iconic of yacht races in the world. It is very popular as it welcomes all levels of competitors of all levels.

It is the 4th largest sporting event in the UK with over 16000 people taking part each year and an all round great experience! With large Formula 1 class boats and slower world cruising type boats taking part, it is a great mix and the after party in the Cowes Race village.

The course is simple, early start of the Royal Yacht Squadron start line and keep the Isle of Wight on your left.

The first leg down the North West side of the Island is alway great fun with all the boats in very close proximity to each other and testing the crew nerves.

Rounding the the Needles lighthouse and avoiding the rocks and wrecks around it is always a fantastic challenge and spectacle.

The rest of the course presents plenty of tactical obstacles and normally quite hard and fast around the south side of the island before the final short tacking past Ryde Sands to the finish line.

Approx 60 niles around - 7 to 12 hours approx depending on conditions.
