THE EVENT

This cracking June race course finishes in the gorgeous Dartmouth harbour. It isn’t a usual straight out the Solent to the West however and usually has extra waypoints set to take the yachts out the Eastern Solent and the long way round the Isle of Wight. The expectation is to go ashore at Dartmouth on Saturday before cruising back, but this skipper's decision, and will depend on time.

Fun fact: The race is named after Sir John Edward Redmond Morgan, who was a member of the RORC and a successful sailor in his own right.

THE PLAN:

  • JOIN THE BOAT: Hamble | Friday 7th TBC

  • OFF THE DOCK: Friday 7th PM

  • RACE START: Friday 7th TBC

  • BACK ON THE DOCK: Hamble |Sunday 8th PM

Good to know

  • In case there are boat chores required ahead of the race, you might be asked for a little support by your skipper. It would be great if you could help out if necessary.

  • As a long-distance race, be aware that you will be operating a watch system. This normally means that a crew is split up and alternates being on / off watch. Often it's 4hr shifts with shorter shifts from 16.00-18.00 and 18.00-20.00 to ensure that you are not always on watch at the same time of day/night.
