THE EVENT
Over 100 years old, this is one of the oldest races in the RORC calendar with its origins in a pre-World War I race from Cowes to St Malo bay. The winner still receives the original trophy - the magnificent King Edward VII Cup, which dates from 1906. The race history makes this one of the most popular races in the calendar and a must-do race for all competitors.

Good to know
In case there are boat chores required ahead of the race, you might be asked for a little support by your skipper. It would be great if you could help out if necessary.
As a long-distance race, be aware that you will be operating a watch system. This normally means that a crew is split up and alternates being on / off watch. Often it's 4hr shifts with shorter shifts from 16.00-18.00 and 18.00-20.00 to ensure that you are not always on watch at the same time of day/night.
Bring your passport as you will be in France's territorial waters and perhaps ashore in St. Malo.
Race start: you'll be going out with the spring tide, so you'll be super quick out of the Solent.
