THE COURSE
The VHF Radio Course is also referred to as the Short-Ranged Certificate (SRC) course.
Learning online takes most people between 5 - 8 hours to complete the course, and pass the mock exam at the end to make sure it’s sunk in!
The course ultimately teaches you how to operate a VHF Radio, either on a base station or hand-held versions and all the associated knowledge and practical skills required for this such as:
Making ship-to-shore telephone calls (Marinas etc),
The correct frequencies (channels) to be used,
Distress, emergency and medical assistance procedures,
Digital Selective Calling (DSC) using simulators,
Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS),
Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRB).

STEPS TO GET YOUR LICENSE
To get your license, you will need to do an exam and you need to make a payment to the RYA to get your certificate.
Make your certification payment to the RYA (£60)
Book your exam (£30) and once complete await your certificate. (If you are just wanting to do the exam fee with us the fee is £50 rather than £30)
